Maple Nut Cake

2 1/4 c boiling water
1/2 c sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 c shortening | 1/2 c milk
1 c pure maple syrup
2 eggs
1/2 c nuts |
Sift the flour, baking soda and salt into a bowl. Add shortening, milk, and 1/4 cup maple syrup. Beat 2 minutes. Add remaing syrup and eggs. Beat 2 minutes. Blen in nuts. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 to 45 minutes.
